In any case, while speaking to a professional photographer based in Lebanon Pa, Bill Simone about my art, he told me that no one has used Film photography in the industry for 8 Years now. Which is disappointing to me, considering that I love film cameras, because I know how they work i suspect. How they take in the light and how to properly expose the film and such. My camera being a AE-1 Program Film SLR, which is currently being shown as my Fav pic.
However, as a graduation present (which I am getting this summer), I am getting a Digital SLR (Single Lens Reflect) Camera and I am going to have to learn how to use it. Fast!
I have already been asked by a friend, to do her Wedding photos. This is going to occur in 2010. So I have about a year to get used to it.
I have heard and seen this quote "Your first 10,000 photographs are your worst. - attributed to Henri Cartier-Bresson
I know this is true by my own experience, and I feel this applies for just using different cameras as well. For example: Just recently I took somebodies ENGAGEMENT PHOTOS! Another friends of mine, and it was a blast! When we first discussed his photo arrangement, I told him I would take them in both my Film and a friends Digital camera. Turns out as I suspected, the film was a much higher quality photo then the digital, because I knew how film works in my camera, I suspect that I have taken about 9,000 photos with it lol.
With the 10,000 quote in mind, I have decided to take on the 10,000 photograph challenge. All of the photos, to be posted in my Gallery here on DA.
Of course, there wont be 10,000 individual photos posted on the site, they would kill me for that. What I want to do, is make contact sheets of 100 images, with 1-3 images picked out as keepers from them. Another photographer, Jerry N. Uelsmann stated that 1 out of every 100 photos is great. Another quote I tend to agree with, and is the reason why I will only pick 1-3 pics in a 100 to show full screen.
So, that's the goal, between now and next summer, 10,000 photographs, with any series I do as a part of that. One series, will be that of college and our so called 'opportunities' upon graduation, which their isn't any. >_<
